Friday Night 6/3 and Shavuot Dinners – With Rabbi Naftali Citron and Rabbi Nehemia Polen With Rabbi Naftali Citron and Rabbi Nehemia Polen Friday night, June 3rd: Rabbi Nehemia Polen will be speaking about his new book, Stop Look Listen: Celebrating Shabbos through a spiritual lens Saturday, night, June 4th - 1st night of Shavuot Sunday night, June 5th - 2nd night of Shavuot Nehemia Polen, professor of Jewish thought, director of the Hasidic Text Institute at Boston’s Hebrew College, and an ordained rabbi, is the author of The Holy Fire: The Teachings of Rabbi Kalonymus Shapira, the Rebbe of the Warsaw Ghetto. He is a contributing commentator to My Peoples Prayer Book, a multivolume Siddur incorporating diverse perspectives on the liturgy. A recipient of the National Jewish Book Award, Nehemia has studied with and served as a teaching fellow for Elie Wiesel and was a visiting scholar at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. He co-authored Filling Words with Light: Hasidic and Mystical Reflections on Jewish Prayer with Rabbi Lawrence Kushner. His newly published book, Stop, Look, Listen, reintroduces Shabbos as a totally immersive spiritual experience, based on the teachings of the great Chassidic masters. Friday Night Dinner: $45 for members, $55 for non-members, with a $5 discount if reserved before Wednesday, June 1st. Friday Night, June 3rd dinner Fleishig Dinner, Sunday night. The June 5th dinner will be featuring: Napa Valley wine, grilled lamb, brisket, and steak. Saturday night, June 4th dinner will be dairy. It will be followed by Tikkun Leil Shavuot - details to come. A typical dinner commences approximately 2 hours after Mincha begins. These dinners provide a unique opportunity for both members and visitors to celebrate Shabbat together in a lively and inviting setting. Attendees can expect delicious food, lots of singing, and inspiring words of Torah from the world-renowned scholars-in-residence who join us for these dinners. REFUND POLICY: The Carlebach Shul incurs costs for every event based on the number of reservations. Therefore, please note that unless otherwise indicated, the cancellation deadline for any event is 24 hours before the start of the event.
